McKay Library

Calendar & Announcements

We are missing all of our patrons and are anxious to get the library going again!  Here is a quick look at our plan to re-open.  **

CURBSIDE SERVICE ONLY -  starting June 15th -Patrons can place an order for pick-up (by phone 731-4000, email [email protected], or online reservation by logging in to library account through the online catalog).  Staff will gather the order and notify the patron that it is ready.  At the arranged time, staff will deliver the order 'curbside' or leave it outside on the library porch for pickup.    Staff will be following safety protocols when processing and delivering orders!  We ask that you help by maintaining social distance and wearing a mask at pick-up time.

LIMITED INSIDE SERVICE - estimated start date June 29th - The Library will be open to customers, BUT only ten (10) people will be allowed in the building at one time.  For this reason, we kindly ask that families bring the least number of people possible.  Time in the library will be limited to 45 mintues a day.  We will only have 2 public computer terminals available and we recommend you make a reservation for your 45 minute spot.  We will still be happy to provide CURBSIDE service during this time!

We will also be asking our customers TO WEAR MASKS INSIDE THE LIBRARY!  THIS IS OUR REQUIREMENT unless you have a medical reason that you cannot wear one.   If you do not have one, we have one for you!   All customers must also follow social distancing requirements of six (6) feet from others.    Staff will also be following safety protocols.

BACK TO BUSINESS AS USUAL WITH NO RESTRICTIONS - not sure when this will start!  We will be following guidelines from the State of Michigan, the CDC, Michigan Library Association and Library of Michigan, and local health officials.

** A hard copy of our complete Reopening Policy and Plan is available at the library.

MELCAT INFORMATION - As of June 8th, deliveries have once again started BUT NOT requests.  There is no date set for this, but we will put the word out when it is. There were a lot of things in transit when the libraries were shut down and when 80% of our libraries are caught up, requesting will begin again.

THE LIBRARY'S ONLINE CATALOG   Did you know you can view, from home, what titles are at the library?  You can see what's new, what's in, what's out, put a reserve on an item, make a request for a title, look at your patron account, renew things, and let us know how you want to be notified!  How cool is that?

To log in to your account, you need your account number and a correct phone (with area code).

OVERDRIVE is available through the Augusta Library!! Patrons can download audiobooks and eBooks to thier Kindles, Nooks and other eReaders, phones, mp3 players, ipods, ipads and more.   Go to http://smdl.lib.overdrive.com to get started or click the link to the left.

FREE WI-FI   AT THE AUGUSTA LIBRARY ... Look for the BrightMonkey GUEST connection on your device and use the password 'library'.  Please note this service is available from 9am to 7pm Monday-Saturday only.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN INFO   The Augusta Library is a member of MeLCat, the statewide catalogue and sharing system.  As a patron in good standing, you can access the catalogue and request to borrow books from other libraries right from your home computer.  Simply go to mel.org (the Michigan ELibrary website) and click on the link to MeLCat.  It will take you directly to a search page where you can begin browsing for the titles you want.  Or, your can access the search page directly at http://elibrary.mel.org/search.   When you find what you are looking for, look for "GET THIS FOR ME" and click on it.  The system will then want to know what library you are from (we are listed under Augusta-Ross Township) and then your name and patron ID (your library account #).   That's it!  If the item is available, you should get a message immediately that it has been ordered.  You will get an email and/or phone call when your item has arrived at our library!    WE ARE STILL HAPPY TO ORDER THINGS FOR YOU RIGHT FROM THE LIBRARY, so give us a call if you need at 731-4000.
